Testimonials

"I am writing to express the positive impact that Island Grove has had on my personal program of recovery. I was a client at Island Grove in the Residential Treatment Program from August 2001 to October 2001, and I remained in the Aftercare Program over the next three years. My substance abuse history prior to treatment at Island Grove included dependence on alcohol, marijuana, and methamphetamine. I had suffered many of the personal, financial, familial, and legal consequences associated with addiction, had failed two prior attempts at intensive outpatient treatment and one prior attempt at impatient treatment, and had lost my professional nursing license six months before I landed in detox at Island Grove.

I was in an unhealthy relationship with my husband of 11 years, and was absent as a parent to our three children. I left residential treatment with many newly acquired tools and a growing sense of my potential to contribute to, and experience fulfillment in life.

I believe that my aftercare group at IG played an essential role in my growth, and ultimately, in my success as a recovering addict. I am in a relationship with myself that is rewarding and caring. I am a responsible and reciprocal relationships with others. I have been practicing as a registered nurse in a leadership position for the past three years. I am an effective and available single parent to three teenagers. I returned to school, and will graduate with my Master's in December.

I am grateful to the staff at Island Grove, and to the ongoing support I've been provided as I move forward. Please let me know if you would like discuss my experience at Island Grove further. Sincerely, Lori
